Embattled actor Will Smith finally responded to the steady succession of explosive revelations that his wife Jada Pinkett has dropped on pop culture over the past week.
Before he took to the ocean, where he posted a photo and video carousel of himself to his 65 million Instagram fans, Smith shared his thoughts about Pinkett Smith’s dizzying array of surprises.
Smith told the New York Times in an email that his wife’s comments on their relationship were a wake-up call to him and that she was more “resilient, clever and compassionate” than he realized.
The Men in Black and Independence Day star admitted to the newspaper that “when you’ve been with someone for more than half of your life, a sort of emotional blindness sets in.”
Smith added, “And you can all too easily lose your sensitivity to their hidden nuances and subtle beauties.”
Pinkett Smith’s memoir,”Worthy,” will be released on Tuesday, Oct 17, and she has created fireworks with her nonstop interviews where she reveals that she and Smith have been separated for the past seven years.
“I think by the time we got to 2016 we were just exhausted with trying,’ Pinkett Smith said on the ‘Today’ broadcast. “I think we were both kind of just still stuck in our fantasy of what we thought the other person should be.”
She continued: “I made a promise that there will never be a reason for us to get a divorce. We will work through whatever. And I just haven’t been able to break that promise.”
