Lil Wayne is being sued by an ex-bodyguard who claims the rapper threatened him with an assault rifle and punched him in the head.
In court documents the rapper is said to have assaulted minder Carlos Christian, who is accusing the star of assault and inflicting emotional distress during an incident at Wayne’s home in Hidden Hills, California, in 2021.
Papers obtained by The Blast say the singer, “committed battery against (the bodyguard) in that while holding a gun, punched him on his ear with his fist.”
They also claim Wayne “engaged in outrageous conduct, specifically, erratically threatening, assaulting, and battering (him) while holding a semiautomatic rifle.” And the documents show Christian claimed he opened a bathroom door following an altercation with the singer to find Wayne allegedly wielding a rifle.
Wayne, born Dwayne Michael Carter Jr,. reportedly got into an argument row with the bodyguard after accusing him of leaking a photo to the media. Christian claims he immediately left the premises and called the police. Wayne has denied the allegations via a spokesperson, stressing he did not own a gun at the time of the alleged assault.
Wayne’s former employee said he has suffered post-traumatic stress disorder as a result of the alleged incident and was forced to seek “mental health treatment.” He adds he was “harmed, including without limitation sustaining a physical and emotional injury” and incurred medical bills as well as lost wages and had his “earning capacity reduced.”
Christian refers to Wayne as a “convicted felon with a history of criminal firearm offenses” in the papers.
In 2009, the musician was caught with a .40-caliber Springfield Armory semi-automatic rifle in his tour bus, and he pleaded guilty to attempted criminal possession of a weapon and was sentenced to one year behind bars.
Wayne pleaded guilty 10 years later to federal gun charges in Florida after authorities found a gold-plated gun on his private jet, but former President Donald Trump infamously commuted the rapper’s sentence.
