Rap icon Ludacris is set to launch a TV show that will be launched on the BET+ streaming platform.
The half-hour TV series will be a dramedy based on the Chicken-n-Beer emcee’s life and early career, The Hollywood Reporter states.
According to the entertainment publication, the show will center around Ludacris’ “experience coming up in the competitive music scene in Atlanta as DJ Chris Lova Lova. The series follows the misadventures of a sharply drawn ensemble who are willing to do anything and everything to bolster ratings at their hip-hop radio station.”
Teens and tweens may not be aware that, before the rapper rocketed to international icon status, he was a DJ who went by the moniker Chris Love Lova at Atlanta radio station Hot 97.5, which is now Hot 107.9.
The Fast & Furious franchise star hustled hard on the side to launch his hip-hop career and soon dropped the hit single “What’s Your Fantasy?” from his 1999 debut album, Incognegro. After gaining notice with Def Jam Records, he changed his stage name to Ludacris and released Back for the First Time, which had most of the tracks from the debut album. The aforementioned single and “Southern Hospitality” helped the rapper-actor-businessman rise to superstardom.
His legend was cemented when he was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles in May 2023. In total, Ludacris has sold more than 24 million albums worldwide.
