Cari Champion enjoyed the 2023 NFL season immensely. At the 2024 NFL Honors, Champion stopped by rolling out to recap it all and shout out other women’s efforts in the field of athletics.
What were your thoughts on the 2023 NFL season?
I thought the season was great.
We had a lot of interesting moments. From the top of the season with Damar Hamlin, what I mean by that is that he got to come back and play and be great.
Now, we get to see Aaron Rodgers tell us about life and what we should be doing with our lives. And Patrick Mahomes is really going for the G.O.A.T. title.
It was an interesting season. There are all these things that we were able to accomplish, and I was here for it because the storylines were aplenty.
National Girls and Women in Sports Day recently passed. What message do you have for any women in the sports industry today?
I think it’s a beautiful thing to celebrate the women, who are not only in terms of what I do for a living in front of the camera, but I believe that college sports have done something for women’s sports in general, [such as] watching Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese go at it.
Watching that battle between South Carolina and LSU really has been electrifying, and I only point them out because they’ve been getting the most attention, but it has opened up a whole ‘nother world for everyone else — and it’s so amazing.
