55th NAACP Image Awards: List of winners

Usher and ‘The Color Purple’ were the big winners at the 2024 NAACP Image Awards

Usher Raymond IV, New Edition, and the critically acclaimed movie musical The Color Purple were the big winners at the 55th NAACP Image Awards. 

Held at the Shrine Auditorium off of Wilshire Boulevard in Los Angeles, the 2024 show was hosted by multi-hyphenate legend Queen Latifah.


Usher earned the Entertainer of the Year award and was bestowed the President’s Award, the Image Awards’ highest honor, by billionaire business baron Oprah Winfrey.

Meanwhile, The Color Purple which starred Taraji P. Henson, Danielle Brooks Fantasia Barrino, Halle Bailey and Colman Domingo took home four awards, including Outstanding Motion Picture.

Legendary group New Edition was the latest to be inducted into the organization’s Hall of Fame.
