Latto empathizes with singer Lizzo, who is so despondent from the nonstop flow of hate that she announced she is quitting the music industry.
From the lawsuits alleging sexual harassment to the constant disparagement about her weight, the unrelenting torment on social media has doused the fire that burned brightly from Lizzo’s soul.
Latto encourages Lizzo to keep going
“I’m getting tired of putting up with being dragged by everyone in my life and on the Internet,” Lizzo explained to her 12 million Instagram followers this past weekend. “All I want is to make music and make people happy and help the world be a little better than how I found it. But I’m starting to feel like the world doesn’t want me in it. I’m constantly up against lies being told about me for clout & views… being the butt of the joke every single time because of how I look… my character being picked apart by people who don’t know me and disrespecting my name. I didn’t sign up for this s— — I QUIT [peace out emoji].”
Ironically, the rapper from Columbus, Ohio, felt the same sentiments before she blasted open the floodgates to her career. And it was Lizzo who boosted Latto when she was at her lowest. And now Latto is flipping the roles to urge Lizzo not to give up the game that has given so much joy to her fans.
“The ppl need you Lizzo,” Latto wrote on Lizzo’s post. “I remember U made me keep going when I wanted to quit before. UR soul is SO pure. F— these people that don’t know you! Team Lizzo 4L.”
Paris Hilton and fans join Latto in supporting Lizzo
In addition to Latto, Paris Hilton and many of Lizzo’s other fans offered similar messages of support.
“I love you Queen,” one fan exclaimed. “My mom and I love your music, your look, and just YOU!!! YOUARE VERY MUCH NEEDED AND WANTED, LIZZO.”
A second fan echoed the first when she wrote: “The enemy would love to see you quit but you know your calling is greater. Unfortunately, social media often houses some of the most negative comments that ppl wouldn’t dare say to your face but there are a lot of us who love you in the masses.”
Another fan implored Lizzo to retire from social media, not the music game.
“You’re necessary. Don’t let the haters win. Quit social media but not music ❤️🔥.”
