Kayla Nicole has once again found herself having to fight off the Swifties.
The 33-year-old model and fitness influencer, who dated football star Travis Kelce before his much-hyped romance with Taylor Swift, recently found herself having to fend off Swift’s fanbase after her tweet about being overwhelmed by a flood of music releases was taken as a slight toward Swift’s impending album release.
“There’s just no way I can fully digest all these new albums,” Nicole wrote on X/Twitter on April 18, just hours before Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department was scheduled to drop. “I’m still on Cowboy Carter.”
Nicole soon found herself bombarded by angry Swift fans in her mentions.
“Taylor doesn’t need your streams,” one user replied, while another chimed in, “And you just happen to tweet about new albums on April 18th when you know very well what’s dropping tomorrow,” in reference to the timing of Nicole’s post.
“Kayla has a right to her opinion on her music taste…but to think she isn’t subtly dissing TS and her album is ludicrous,” another angry Swiftie wrote. “Could you not have just said how much you like Cowboy Carter?”
Most of the messages were ignored until one user replied with a since-deleted post filled with attacking and explicit language to which Nicole responded with a simple, “You OK?”
“I’m unproblematic. Mind my business. Never respond to the constant vitriol,” Nicole wrote as a follow-up post. “Solid as they come & don’t expect a pat on the back for it either. Just know everyone has a breaking point & would love for ‘yall’ (because you know exactly who you are) to leave me alone.”
After one account replied to her post, saying, “You gotta log off, sis…the internet is not real life,” Nicole let the user know that the internet can be very real, and people just need to take it upon themselves to do better.
“I made [six real-life] figures from being ‘logged on’ last year,” Nicole replied quickly. “And very thankful for it. A better suggestion — people that use this platform to spew hate — log out and focus on getting their mattress off the floor.”
Kayla Nicole and Kelce dated for roughly five years, from 2017, before ending their relationship in May 2022.
Swift’s latest album, The Tortured Poets Department, was released Friday, April 19 and features the Kelce-inspired song “So High School.”
