In an exciting twist of cinematic fate, Ryan Coogler will be producing the upcoming adaptation of A Vicious Circle.
The screenplay for this new movie — based on the Boom! Studios graphic novel series created by “Terminator Zero” showrunner Mattson Tomlin and artist Lee Bermejo — will be penned by Tomlin himself. Coogler, always one to keep it in the family, will produce the film via his Proximity Media banner, alongside Proximity’s Sev Ohanian and Zinzi Coogler, and Boom!’s president of development Stephen Christy.
Meanwhile, Ryan Coogler and his frequent collaborator Michael B. Jordan have been cooking up something top-secret and undeniably tantalizing. They started filming their mysterious new project in April. The duo — known for their cinematic successes like Coogler’s 2013 directorial debut Fruitvale Station, the 2015 Rocky spin-off Creed and the juggernaut Black Panther — are at it again. This time, they’re diving into the world of supernatural thrillers — vampires included.
Cinematographer Autumn Durald Arkapaw couldn’t resist giving fans a tease, confirming that filming was underway in April with a tantalizing Instagram post featuring a clapper board.
Deadline.com reported that the film, a “supernatural thriller,” is slated for release in March 2025. The star-studded cast includes Jack O’Connell, Delroy Lindo, Jayme Lawson, Omar Benson Miller and Wunmi Mosaku.
Comicbookmovie.com reported the secrecy was so intense that studio bosses had to “make the pilgrimage” to the offices of Coogler’s agents just to get a peek at the script.
Rumor has it, the film will be set in the Jim Crow-era South and might involve “vampires and Southern supernatural traditions.” Jordan might even play twin brothers. But, as with any good thriller, the details remain under wraps.
Production is believed to be taking place in the ever-mysterious and atmospheric New Orleans. So, buckle up, movie fans — Coogler and Jordan are about to take us on one wild ride.
