Two-time Olympic gold medalist and Team USA’s water polo goalie Ashleigh Johnson has partnered with the award-winning wellness brand Dr Teal’s to share her recovery and recharge routine as she gears up for this year’s Olympic Games.

Trailblazing in water polo

Ashleigh Johnson is not only one of the world’s top goalkeepers, having led Team USA to gold medals in the 2020 and 2016 Olympics, but she also holds the record for all-time career saves at Princeton University. In 2016, she broke new ground as the first African American woman on a U.S. Olympic women’s water polo team. Johnson’s relentless dedication to her sport requires a rigorous training regimen, which she discussed in a recent interview.

Johnson’s typical training includes intensive pool sessions, ranging from conditioning to specialized goalie training, complemented by a clean diet and regular gym workouts.

The role of Dr Teal’s in recovery

Among her essential recovery tools is Dr Teal’s Epsom Salt, particularly the Lavender Pure Epsom Salt Soak. Johnson explains that the soak is essential to her post-workout routine, as it speeds up her recovery and recharges her muscles. She values the natural essential oils in the salts, which help relax her mind, enabling her to train harder and perform at her best. A 20-minute hot bath with Dr Teal’s Epsom Salt after practice or matches is her go-to method for muscle and mind relaxation.

Advancing women in sports

With increasing attention on women’s sports, including the WNBA and upcoming Olympic events, Johnson is optimistic about the growing focus on female athletes. Through her partnership with Dr Teal’s, she continues to highlight the positive trends in sports inclusivity and recognition.
