The women of Team USA geared up for the Paris 2024 Olympics with a powerful display of unity and support. In a recent Instagram video, the U.S. Olympic Women’s Gymnastics Team showcased their camaraderie and girl power as they participated in the viral TikTok game, pass the phone.

Empowering moments from Team USA

Posted on July 25, the energetic clip features Olympic stars like Simone Biles, Sunisa Lee and Jordan Chiles, who take turns passing an imaginary phone while sharing uplifting messages about their fellow athletes. Biles kicked off the challenge, enthusiastically declaring, “We’re the U.S. Women’s Gymnastics team, and we’re passing the phone to the U.S. Water Polo team!”

The Water Polo team, including standout players like Ashleigh Johnson and Maggie Steffens, continued the trend, sending their support to the U.S. Women’s Indoor Volleyball team. Other teams featured in this heartwarming video include the Women’s Rugby team, the Women’s Field Hockey Team and the U.S. 3×3 Women’s Basketball Team.

Celebrating gender equality in sports

This year marks a historic moment for the Olympics, as female athletes will enjoy equal representation alongside their male counterparts. The Paris 2024 Games will feature full gender parity in 28 out of 32 sports, with a total of 152 women’s events, 157 men’s events and 20 mixed-gender events. This significant step towards inclusivity reflects the International Olympic Committee’s commitment to gender equality in sports.

As the Paris Olympics continue, the unity and strength of these athletes serve as an inspiration for many, highlighting the importance of support and empowerment in sports.
