Pastor Jamal Bryant, celebrated for his impactful community outreach and dynamic preaching beyond the pulpit, has embarked on a bold new initiative. His national tour, “Project 5-5-5,” aims to mobilize voters and enhance civic engagement. The tour will span from August to November, with events scheduled each month to inspire and encourage voter participation across the nation.

The pastor of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in suburban Atlanta is touring four churches in key swing states — each event taking place on the 5th of each month until Election Day — to implore and inspire people across the country to vote in the upcoming presidential election.

What precipitated “Project 5-5-5” was alarm among voters about Project 2025, a political initiative crafted by the conservative Heritage Foundation. The organization seeks to, among other things, limit reproductive rights, slash education funding for schools in low-income areas, limit birthright citizenship and alter tax brackets that would negatively impact the middle and working classes.

The inaugural event took place in Atlanta at The Carter Center on Aug. 5. Bryant was joined by influential dignitaries including Dr. Rashad Richey, a representative to The Carter Center; Congressman Hank Johnson, Bernard Levett, who is the president of the 100 Black Men of DeKalb County;  and Mo Ivory, Esq., a candidate for Fulton County Commission. Other influential organizations that participated in the inaugural event included Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, and 100 Black Women of DeKalb County.

“Project 5-5-5” is being spearheaded by Bryant and highlights speakers and organizations in the respective cities to advocate for increased activism among the electorate and to protect human rights. The campaign has received support from the Divine Nine and a myriad of other African American organizations that will edify communities and inform people about their rights to and the importance of the vote.
