Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, was among a string of “light-filled” speakers at an Oprah Winfrey book club session.

The actor and influencer – who has son Archie and daughter Lilibet with husband Prince Harry – was a guest at the event on Sept. 7. Markle spoke in front of a sales stand on which her partner’s controversial memoir, Spare, was on display.

The book event was also attended by actor Marco Leone, astrology and psychology expert Dr Jennifer Freed and teacher and psychic medium Laura Lynne Jackson. They gathered at the Godmothers bookstore in Summerland, California, miles from Markle’s mansion in Montecito, California. Jackson hailed Markle as one of the evening’s “light-filled speakers.”

It is unclear what Markle said, but the event was billed as one of a series of “conversations” with guests being hosted by Godmothers, which is co-owned by literary agent Jennifer Rudolph Walsh.

The store is promoting celebrity books including Markle’s children’s book, The Bench, and Prince Harry’s memoir. He’s being billed as belonging to the community despite spending most of his life being raised in Britain before he quit the country with wife Markle for a new life in the U.S.

The event was held on the eve of the second anniversary of Queen Elizabeth’s death.

Markle and Winfrey have been friends for years, with the chat show host one of the guests at the duchess’ wedding to Harry in May 2018.

Markle’s and Prince Harry’s $14 million Montecito mansion is close to Winfrey’s home. In 2021 the couple famously sat down with the broadcaster for an 85-minute interview, in which the pair accused an unnamed member of the royal family of asking what color their first child would be.
