Grammy-winning singer and songwriter Victoria Monét is set to make a significant leap into the world of children’s literature with her upcoming picture book, “Everywhere You Are.” Scheduled for release on June 24, 2025, this enchanting book will feature illustrations by Alea Marley and will be available in both English and Spanish.

Monét expressed her excitement about this new venture in an interview with People magazine. She shared her passion for various forms of writing, including poetry, music and scripts. Writing children’s books has always been a cherished dream for her, and now she is bringing that dream to life.

Targeted at children aged two to five, “Everywhere You Are” aims to help young readers cope with separation anxiety. The story revolves around a comforting moon that reassures a young star as they part ways at dawn. Monét’s intention is to foster a mutual understanding between parents and children, emphasizing that love transcends physical distance.

In addition to her musical achievements, Monét is a devoted mother to her three-year-old daughter, Hazel Monét Gaines, whom she shares with her ex-boyfriend John Gaines. Balancing the demands of motherhood with her flourishing career, Monét revealed that writing this book has helped alleviate some of the guilt she feels about not being able to be present for her daughter at all times.

Monét joins a growing list of recording artists who have ventured into children’s literature:

1. Dolly Parton released “Coat of Many Colors,” based on her hit song, in 2016.

2. Kelly Clarkson published “River Rose and the Magical Lullaby” in 2016, inspired by her daughter.

3. Jimmy Fallon, while primarily known as a TV host, has released several children’s books, including “Your Baby’s First Word Will Be DADA” in 2015.

Monét has found creative ways to integrate her role as a mother into her artistic endeavors. Her hit song “On My Mama” serves as an anthem for new moms, and she has even featured Hazel on a Grammy-award-winning record. For this book, Hazel played a significant role in the creative process as well.

Monét explained that reading the drafts to Hazel gave her a sense of peace, knowing her daughter can understand this sentiment and carry her mother with her wherever she goes. She hopes that the book will resonate with other families, providing comfort and connection.

Monét believes that “Everywhere You Are” will create lasting moments of reflection and quality time for families. She expressed her joy at the thought of families sharing this book for generations to come.

Fans and families can now pre-order “Everywhere You Are,” which will be published by Putnam Books for Young Readers. This heartfelt story promises to be a beautiful addition to any child’s library, offering comfort and love through its lyrical narrative.

As Monét embarks on this new chapter of her career, her dedication to nurturing the bond between parents and children shines brightly through her work. This book is not just a story; it’s a celebration of love, connection and the beautiful journey of motherhood.

Monét’s venture into children’s literature represents a growing trend of artists expanding their creative horizons. Many musicians, actors and other public figures have found success in the world of children’s books, using their platforms to share important messages with young audiences.

The theme of separation anxiety addressed in “Everywhere You Are” is particularly relevant in today’s world, where many families face challenges of distance due to work, travel or other circumstances. By tackling this issue through the lens of a children’s story, Monét is providing a valuable resource for parents and caregivers to help children understand and cope with these feelings.

Monét’s approach to balancing her career and motherhood serves as an inspiration to many working parents. Her openness about experiencing “mom guilt” and finding ways to integrate her daughter into her work life resonates with those who struggle with similar challenges.
