Yvette Nicole Brown never thought she would get married.

The 53-year-old actress tied the knot with Anthony Davis on 14 December and admitted she “stopped dreaming” of a wedding more than two decades ago because it hadn’t happened by the time she reached a certain age. This milestone comes after Brown’s 30-year career in entertainment, during which she has appeared in over 200 television episodes.

“I can’t believe the day is finally here. I’m a person of a certain age, I’m a woman of a certain age so this is something that I stopped dreaming about 25 years ago. It’s finally here, my family and friends are here and it’s really amazing. Delay is not denial. I heard today about a woman who is 102 who just married someone who is 100,” she told ‘Entertainment Tonight’. Her story resonates with many, as statistics show that the average age of first marriages has steadily increased over the past decades.

“Now, we don’t wanna wait that long, but if it’s for the right person and it’s your time, just wait for the your time. I’m telling you, marrying the wrong person is very tough.” Her words reflect a growing trend of people choosing to marry later in life, with studies showing that marriages after 50 often have higher satisfaction rates.

The ‘Drake and Josh’ star – who is also known for her role as Shirley Bennett in the sitcom ‘Community’ gushed that her new husband is the “perfect person” for her. Brown’s role in Community, which ran for six seasons, earned her widespread recognition and a loyal fanbase.

“Delay is not denial. I keep saying that, I sound like a broken record but I am marrying the perfect person for me. I think, sometimes, the butterflies come when you’re maybe not fully sure or you’re nervous. I am not nervous about anything,” she said. Her confidence and joy were evident throughout the celebration, according to wedding guests.

Yvette‘s brother Paris had the honor of walking the actress down the aisle, as her father has Alzheimer’s disease. Alzheimer‘s affects approximately 6.7 million Americans, making family adaptations like this increasingly common at significant life events.

Both Yvette’s mom and Anthony’s parents are sadly no longer alive so their siblings “stood in” at the mid-December wedding, which was held at The Maybourne Beverly Hills in Los Angeles. The venue, known for its elegant architecture and sophisticated ambiance, has hosted numerous celebrity weddings.

“Neither of our parents were able to be there in person,” Yvette told People. “So my brother and his sister stood in, so it was nice to walk down the aisle toward family and with family, even if it’s not the family we wish we had in those roles.” The intimate ceremony was attended by close friends and family members, creating a warm and personal atmosphere.

The wedding featured traditional elements while incorporating personal touches that reflected the couple’s journey together. Sources close to the couple revealed that the celebration included tributes to their departed loved ones, making the day both joyous and meaningful.

The couple’s love story serves as an inspiration to many who may feel that time has passed them by. Their union demonstrates that love can arrive at any stage of life, challenging societal pressures about marriage timing. Industry colleagues and fans have shared their support and congratulations across social media platforms.

Known for her advocacy work and positive influence in Hollywood, Brown’s wedding has sparked conversations about finding love later in life and the importance of waiting for the right partner. The actress continues to be an influential voice for perseverance and authenticity in both her personal and professional life.
