National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day: Free at-home tests

HIV is still hitting Black communities the hardest. Even though Blacks make up 12 percent of the U.S. population, we account for 40* percent of new HIV cases. Black gay and bisexual men face the highest impact, making up 37* percent of new infections among all gay and bi men, while Black women shoulder 52* percent of new infections among all women.

This isn’t just about numbers — it’s about real people, real lives, and real barriers that keep us from the care we deserve. Systemic racism, economic disparities, and stigma create roadblocks to prevention, testing, and treatment. But we have the power to change the narrative.

It starts with breaking the stigma, pushing for better access to healthcare, and making sure our people get the testing and care they need — without judgment, without barriers.

HIV doesn’t define us. Access, awareness, and action do. Let’s protect ourselves and our communities.
