Kim Kardashian “wasn’t planning on being a momager” for another decade. Her unexpected transition into managing her daughter’s career marks a significant shift in the family’s entertainment dynasty, following in the footsteps of her own mother’s successful management style.

The 44-year-old star is currently managing the career of her 11-year-old daughter North – but Kim is adopting a different approach to her own mom, Kris Jenner. The decision to manage North’s career comes at a time when young talent is increasingly finding success through social media and entertainment platforms.

The brunette beauty – who also has Saint, nine, Chicago, seven, and Psalm, five, with ex-husband Kanye West – said on the latest episode of ‘The Kardashians’: “I really wasn’t planning on being a momager for, like, another ten years.” The timing of North’s career launch has created new challenges for the multifaceted entrepreneur, who already manages multiple successful business ventures.

Kim then joked about Kris’ approach to business. The mother-daughter dynamic between Kim and Kris has been a central element of their success in the entertainment industry, with both women known for their business acumen and strategic thinking.

The reality star – who was married to Kanye between 2014 and 2022 – quipped: “But, guess what? This momager is not taking ten percent.” Her decision to forgo the traditional management fee demonstrates a different approach to family business management, setting her apart from established industry practices.

Kris, 69, have overseen the careers of her children and famously takes ten percent of their earnings. The Kardashian-Jenner matriarch’s management style has become legendary in Hollywood, helping to build one of entertainment’s most successful family brands.

Meanwhile, Kim recently confessed that she feels “really conflicted” about her daughter’s burgeoning career. Her concerns echo those of many parents in the entertainment industry who must balance their children’s professional opportunities with maintaining a normal childhood.

The SKIMS co-founder also admitted to being caught off-guard by North‘s sudden rise. The emergence of young talent through various entertainment platforms has created new opportunities and challenges for celebrity parents managing their children’s careers.

She said on ‘The Kardashians’: “I thought I was busy before. North, me having to be her momager right now is crazy. It’s just, it was not on my list. It was not on my bingo card for this year.” The demands of managing a young performer’s career have added considerable responsibilities to Kim’s already packed schedule.

In 2024, North starred as Young Simba in a production of ‘The Lion King’, while she also featured on Kanye’s ‘Talking / Once Again‘. These performances showcase North’s diverse talents and her early entry into the entertainment industry, following in her family’s footsteps while carving out her own unique path.

And managing North’s career has proven to be more time-consuming than Kim imagined. The role requires constant attention to scheduling, creative decisions, and ensuring appropriate opportunities for her daughter’s developing career.

She shared: “If she has a shoot, I have to be there all day, so it’s like her or me.” This level of dedication demonstrates the intensive nature of managing young talent while ensuring proper supervision and support.

Kim also admitted that she’s struggled to find a healthy balance in recent months. The challenge of maintaining both professional obligations and family responsibilities has become increasingly complex with North’s growing career.

She shared: “I’m really conflicted on my daughter’s career, so we’re going to talk about that soon. I just really want to make sure that everything’s really well balanced. All of the work experiences are balanced out with just enough fun life experiences. I just want balance.” Her thoughtful approach reflects a deep understanding of the importance of protecting North’s childhood while nurturing her talents.

The entertainment industry has seen many young performers navigate early stardom, but the Kardashian family’s unique position in popular culture adds extra complexity to North’s journey. Kim’s careful consideration of her daughter’s career path while maintaining firm boundaries demonstrates her evolution from reality star to business mogul to dedicated momager.
