Nothing has unveiled its new Phone (3a) and (3a) Pro.

The two devices bring a host of meaningful software and hardware changes when compared to last year’s Phone (2a) and (2a) Plus, such as cameras, artificial intelligence (AI) and performance.

Both handsets are powered by the Snapdragon 7S Gen 3 chipset, which Nothing claims will beat the (2a) by 33 per cent in its CPU thanks to the chip’s improved efficiency.

This optimized Snapdragon 7S Gen 3 chip will also give users more battery life, with Nothing saying the efficiency gains from the chip will equate to an extra 30 minutes of charge for the (3a) and (3a) Pro.

As well as raw performance, Nothing says the chip will make the (3a) up to 92 per cent better at processing AI tasks compared to the (2a).

Nothing has also turned more focus to AI in the (3a) and (3a) Pro, with both devices including a new side button called the Essential Key, which will launch the AI-powered app Essential Space.

The London-based company has explained Essential Space will be the place to store and index users’ screenshots, voice memos and photos.

The main difference between the (3a) and the (3a) Pro comes with the cameras, with the latter device housing a 3x periscope telephoto lens, while the (3a) includes a 2x telephoto zoom.

Both phones have a 50-megapixel f/1.8 main shooter and an 8-megapixel ultrawide lens, but the (3a) Pro also gains optical image stabilization.

Nothing’s signature Glyph interface – made up of LED strips around the phones’ camera housings – remains on the (3a) and the (3a) Pro, with both devices also sharing the same three-year major software support on top of an additional three years of security patches.

The (3a) starts at $379, while the (3a) Pro is available for $459.
