2025 Nissan Rogue Platinum AWD Crossover Redefined

Nissan’s Rogue balances luxury and practicality in its top-tier trim

The Nissan Rogue has long been one of America’s bestselling compact SUVs, and the 2025 Platinum AWD model shows why this crossover continues to attract buyers in a crowded segment. With thoughtful refinements to its already successful formula, the latest Rogue Platinum delivers a compelling blend of comfort, technology, and everyday usability.

Walking up to the 2025 Nissan Rogue Platinum, the vehicle’s design feels both familiar and fresh. Nissan has maintained the bold V-motion grille but refined the LED lighting elements for a more premium appearance. The Platinum trim’s 19-inch machined alloy wheels and subtle chrome accents elevate its presence without being ostentatious. The proportions remain well-balanced, with a silhouette that looks substantial without appearing bulky.

Inside, the Platinum trim justifies its position at the top of the Rogue lineup. The cabin features semi-aniline leather upholstery with diamond-quilted stitching that wouldn’t look out of place in vehicles costing significantly more. The front seats offer 10-way power adjustment with memory settings and both heating and ventilation functions – a welcome addition during my week with the vehicle, which included both chilly mornings and warm afternoons.

Nissan’s “Zero Gravity” seat design continues to impress with supportive cushioning that remained comfortable even during a four-hour highway journey. The panoramic moonroof brightens the interior considerably, making the cabin feel more spacious than its dimensions might suggest.

Technology remains a strong suit for the 2025 Rogue. The 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster is crisp and customizable, while the 12.3-inch center touchscreen runs Nissan’s latest infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The interface is responsive and logically organized, though some functions still require too many menu selections to access. The Bose premium audio system delivers clear sound throughout the cabin, with enough power to satisfy most audiophiles.

Under the hood, the Rogue Platinum continues with Nissan’s 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine, producing 201 horsepower and 225 lb-ft of torque. While these numbers aren’t class-leading, the continuously variable transmission (CVT) has been refined for 2025, offering more responsive acceleration and less of the “rubber-band” feeling that plagues many CVTs. The small-displacement turbo engine delivers adequate power for most driving situations, though it can feel strained during aggressive passing maneuvers.

The all-wheel-drive system provides sure-footed traction in wet conditions, and the selectable drive modes (Standard, Eco, Sport, and Off-Road) noticeably alter the vehicle’s character. Sport mode holds the revs higher and sharpens throttle response, while Eco mode prioritizes efficiency. During my testing, the Rogue averaged 29 mpg in mixed driving – impressive for an AWD crossover in this class.

The Platinum trim’s ride quality stands out as a high point. The suspension absorbs road imperfections with minimal cabin disturbance while maintaining enough body control to inspire confidence through corners. Road and wind noise are well-suppressed, contributing to the premium feel that Nissan has clearly prioritized.

Safety technology is comprehensive, with Nissan’s ProPilot Assist 2.0 offering enhanced semi-autonomous driving capabilities. The system now handles highway driving with greater confidence, maintaining lane position naturally and adapting to traffic flow smoothly. The 360-degree camera system offers exceptional clarity, making parking in tight spaces remarkably easy.

Pros:

  • Upscale interior with premium materials
  • User-friendly technology with large displays
  • Excellent cargo flexibility
  • Impressive fuel economy for AWD crossover
  • Refined ride quality

Cons:

  • Engine can feel underpowered during aggressive driving
  • Some competitors offer more engaging driving dynamics
  • Price approaches entry-level luxury territory

At $48,330 as tested, the 2025 Rogue Platinum AWD represents a significant investment, placing it against formidable competition, including the Toyota RAV4 Limited, Honda CR-V Touring, and even entry-level luxury offerings like the BMW X1. While the price may cause some sticker shock, the comprehensive feature set and refined execution make a compelling value case when compared to luxury-branded alternatives.

The 2025 Nissan Rogue Platinum AWD isn’t revolutionary, but it doesn’t need to be. Instead, it focuses on meaningful improvements to an already successful formula, delivering a well-rounded crossover that excels in comfort, technology, and everyday practicality.
