Dubai rape victim receives pardon

Norwegian woman, Marte Deborah Dalelv, 24, has been pardoned and is free to leave the country. She received her passport on Sunday, July 21, 2013 and was told that her 16-month sentence for having sex outside marriage has been dropped. Dalelv claimed she was raped in March by a co-worker, but she was charged with the sex offense after going to police in Dubai. An interior designer, she worked for Janet Jackson’s billionaire husband, Wissam Al Mana’s firm. She was reportedly fired shortly after the assault.
