BET’s New Game Show: Comedian Kim Coles Is Forgiving America’s Debt

Actress and comedian Kim Coles is a
bona fide entertainment chameleon. How else can you explain her ability to
thrive in the diverse scenarios Hollywood execs continue to throw her way? Will she shine in a sketch comedy? Check. Do you think
she could be the loveable oddball on a sitcom based on the lives of black
women? No problem. Do you want her to be
the first female black host of a prime time game show?

Wait, what?

Although Coles would never share with you that
was more than likely the first thought that crossed her mind when BET
approached her about hosting their new game show “Pay It Off.”
Untraditional in its scope, the show is the first of its kind that directly
focuses on helping contestants pay off their debt. According to Coles, that was
reason enough to be involved.

“I just really think this idea is
excellent,” she said, while kicking off her shoes following a long day on the
set. “It always feels good to help people — especially with the state of the
economy.”

But those warm and fuzzy thoughts
aside, is Coles really the right captain to steer the ship of financial nobility?

“I’ve been
fortunate enough to do a wide variety of things throughout my career and this
will be something new and exciting that I get to add to it,” she shared.
Everything that I’ve done so far in my career has prepared me for this moment,
so I’m ready.”

Outside of preparing for the show,
Coles, an avid reader, openly expresses her fascination with human
behavior—particularly when it comes to love and relationships. It only seemed
right to let her share a “love tip of the day” with the readers at
ro.

“My
new thing is that you have to trust your intuition,” she explained. “You
know within an instant if someone is a person that you really want to spend
time with. Too many times, we women and men do not trust our
intuition. We’re too quick to say, ‘oh she’s fine or he’s cute … or she’s got a
big booty … or whatever it is we say. We always go for the physical or for the
superficial, but we know instantly whether or not someone is right for us. So
you should just trust your intuition first. Trust your intuition and wait for
the love. That’s what I would tell everyone.”

So what are your thoughts on Kim’s “Love
Tip Of the Day.” Do you agree or disagree? Please share your thoughts.  –dewayne rogers
