Jennifer Hudson blasted for not congratulating Lupita Nyong’o
During Sunday’s 2014 Oscars, fans and celebs alike were glued to their televisions and watched as newcomer Lupita Nyong’o took home the Best Supporting Actress award. And while stars like Oprah and Queen Latifah publicly congratulated Nyong’o, Jennifer Hudson caught flack for seemingly dissing the star by not mentioning her tremendous accomplishment.
“Here it is! God told me I need more wall space though!” Hudson captioned a photo of her own Oscar carefully tucked away in a cabinet at her home.
Instagram commenters quickly weighed in and wondered why Hudson, who won Best Supporting Actress in 2007 for Dream Girls wasn’t supporting her fellow thespian.
“Ok we know you won one, but why aren’t you congratulating anyone for tonight??? Smh … kinda tacky,” wrote one fan. ”
Very tasteless @iamjhud … we all know you won … it’s @Lupita Nyong’o’s night,” added another.
However, the people who quickly to bashed Hudson and her “shady” ways were actually misinformed.
Hudson made mention of Nyong’o’s win on Twitter as soon as it happened and was simply answering a fan’s question about where she keeps her trophy. “Yessss!!!” wrote Hudson on Twitter when Nyong’o was announced as a winner. “So proud of her,” she later tweeted.
