Kevin Hart is oh so funny, but how does he size up against Bill Cosby?

At the relatively young age of 32, Kevin Hart has made quite the name for himself as a bona fide comedian, actor and producer. Getting his start in television at 20, Hart has managed to take his career to higher and higher levels over the years. From his major introduction to the African American community with a spot in the Wayans’ brothers Scary Movie franchise to a starring role in the box-office flop (but still funny) Soul Plane; Kevin has not skipped a comedic beat. Nowadays, Kevin can be seen playing himself (sorta) in the hilarious “Real Husbands of Hollywood,” a cheeky send-up of the  reality genre.

The great William Cosby is a veteran entertainer and social activitist. From humble roots as a stand-up comedian to becoming a spokesman for empowerment through education, Cosby has always exhibited a great deal of passion for sincerity in his work as an actor, writer and producer. Anyone over 40 remembers “Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids,” created by a black man at a time where the country was still deeply racially divided.  The show, like many of his works to follow, was fun and entertaining, but always focused on a lesson to be learned. These lessons were made apparent by a very parental Cosby in the “Cosby Kids,” and a world-renown Cosby creation to follow years later; “The Cosby Show,” which featured an upper-class black family, and gave many African Americans their first glimpse into black life on the other side of the tracks.

The two comic artists each stand out in their own right, reflecting where they came from, so the question is not one of sizing up per se, it is simply a matter of each doing his thing to the best of his personal abilities. –mark anderson
