Alexander Wang and Samsung reveal bag collaboration

Fashion designer Alexander Wang based out of New York City recently collaborated with Samsung, the South Korean technology firm, on a special new lambskin ‘Wallie’ bag. Wang channeled the collective inspiration of a select group of Samsung smartphone users for his latest collection. The gym sac has a drawstring closure, reinforced leather corners, and a black and gray print on the lambskin finish.

The bag’s abstract print was produced by Wang by combining different images (photos, doodles, patterns) created using Samsung’s Galaxy Note II smartphones by a group of his close friends, stylists, photographers and others.

“The abstract print really captures the energy of New York City,” the Wang explained. “This collaboration is a great example of how technology and style can come together in an unexpected but really meaningful way.”

The bag is available in select locations this month, and though the bag has a hefty price tag, $550, all proceeds will go toward the Art Start charity, which funds art programs for children and young people. Samsung is enlisting some top names to help with sales. Recently they teamed up with Jay-Z, doing a huge collaboration together promoting his album Magna Carter. What are your thoughts on the collaboration, is the bag a hit or a miss? –joi pearson @JoiAPearson
