Kelly Rowland doesn’t play. The new “X-Factor” judge and former Destiny’s Child member, who has previously mentioned that her motivation to stay fit is to “look good naked,” flaunts her sexy bikini bod on the October 2013 cover of SHAPE, the popular women’s fitness magazine.
And she owes it all to hard work and dedication. Rowland, 32, tells SHAPE:
I work out five or six times a week. I feel better, look better, sleep better,” she says. “As I’m getting older, the Rowland family trait of having bigger bottoms is taking its toll on my hips and butt. The other day, [my trainer] had me doing squats that were so hard I wanted to kill her. But my behind is getting higher and tighter. Exercise really does change your body.”
But what’s the point of working out if you don’t eat right? Rowland, who initially wasn’t a big fan of dieting, has found middle ground, trading in her fatty favorites for healthier options.
When I want a steak, I grill some portobello mushrooms and put a little goat cheese on them,” she says. “And I’ve learned to satisfy my sweet tooth by replacing Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups with half a tablespoon of almond butter on half a banana.
While we’re sure portobello mushrooms come nothing close to a well marinated, juicy steak, Kelly’s discipline and terrifically toned tummy have us thinking it’s time to turn in our Twinkies for bananas!
