Beyoncé and Jay Z top ‘Vanity Fair’s’ power list

Beyoncé and Jay Z made a substantial amounts of power moves this year, and Vanity Fair’s The New Establishment 2013 list made it known by making hip-hop’s power couple number one on their list. While more than a few will scoff and question the validity of their list, it is safe to say they have earned the top spot.

While experiencing her first year of parenthood, Beyoncé started the year off by singing at President Obama’s Inauguration, securing a lucrative deal with Pepsi, a performance at the Super Bowl, her Mrs. Carter Show, and her HBO documentary, “Life is But a Dream,” which revealed Blue Ivy‘s face for the first time.


Jay Z guided Justin Timberlake through a major comeback, expanded his Roc Nation management company to the sports arena, and he too secured a lucrative deal with Samsung which helped his latest album, Magna Carta Holy Grail go platinum before the CDs hit the shelves.
