Looks like Brooklyn, New York, rapper Bobby Shmurda is one step closer to becoming a free man after posting $2 million bail over the weekend.

The 20-year-old “Hot N***a” rapper has been in jail for about six weeks after being arrested on conspiracy, drug, and gun charges

According to The New York Times, the city will review the bail arrangements made by famed bail bondsman Ira Judelson on behalf of Shmurda, and will probably release the rapper within a couple days.

“If the city is playing fair, there will be no need for a hearing,” said Shmurda’s attorney, Kenneth Montgomery.

Contrary to previous reports, Shmurda’s record label, Epic Records, did not put up bail money for the artist. It was in fact Shmurda’s management team that put up property and collateral to secure Shmurda’s bail.

Shmurda, née Ackquille Pollard, was arrested on Dec. 17 at a NYC recording studio along with members of his crew, GS9.
