When four former members of Danity Kane met for lunch in Los Angeles back in mid-May, the Instagram photos set off a flurry of reunion chatter amongst the girl group’s fan base. Noticeably absent from the proceedings was original member D. Woods, who stated soon after in an interview with Bijou Star, that she’d learned of the group’s possible reunion via her Twitter followers.
But in a recent interview with Pacific Rim, Danity Kane’s Dawn Richard strongly implied that D. Woods hasn’t re-joined the fold because she isn’t interested and may think that she’s bigger than the group. While defending Woods’ right to follow her own path, Richard also indicated that her former group mate didn’t see Danity Kane as a priority.
“We asked D. Woods to come but then again, everybody has their place and their time–and that’s okay,” Richard said.
“I think it was great for us to meet and there is love all around, we are too grown for there not to be,” she added. “I think what the focus needs to be on is–not who didn’t show up–but the fact that after six years there was a monumental response that came from it. I think that we dwell on the negative. We should love everybody We haven’t spoken about Danity Kane in years and for us to lunch together speaks volumes for our fan base.”
“[D. Woods] is great. Let the girl be,” Richard stated–before adding: “Whatever people choose, let them live in their moment. If they feel like they are the queen, let them live. Like, that’s okay to say ‘No.’ Damn, like I think we gotta chill out. If that’s her choice, then that’s her choice and that’s cool but [we’re] moving on.
“I’m definitely committed to these projects that I’m doing,” Woods told Sister 2 Sister in May. “I don’t want to slight any one project because that’s not fair to myself, and that’s not fair to them as a group.” Woods did previously state that a Danity Kane reunion would have to take a backseat to everything she has going on in her solo career.
