Erykah Badu served as the headline act at the 2012 Afro Punk in Brooklyn. The soul diva hit the stage shortly after 9 p.m. and opened with a medley of her hits which included updated versions of “Apple Tree,” “On & On,” and “Gone Baby, Be Long.”
Badu took a moment to craft a beat on a beat machine before going into her dedication to hip-hop, “Love of My Life.” She surprised the crowd of over 10,000 by bringing out Yasin Bey (Mos Def). Yasin Bey rapped a rendition of Common’s first verse on the hit song “I Use to Love H.E.R.”
Badu continued to run through her impressive discography by performing “Danger” and closing her show by singing an extended version of “Didn’t Cha Know.”
