The Houston Symphony will host a free day of music on Saturday, July 13 from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. The concert will take place on several stages and will feature performances by jazz groups, rock and blues bands, ethnic ensembles and choral and classical symphonies.
The music fest will kick off at 9 a.m. with the learn how to play instrument petting zoo at the Texas Avenue lobby of Jones Hall and will lead into the morning family concert at 10 a.m. by symphony conductor Robert Sanz. Other activities will include; a 30-minute Harmonica clinic with the Houston Blues Museum on the Jones Hall balcony from noon to 2 p.m., the Texas Southern University Jazz Quartet on the front lobby stage from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. and the various zydeco and blues band performances from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Festivalgoers will also be able to enjoy the street Food Truck Fair, which allows guests to sample the best food trucks in Houston, including; Bernie’s Burger Bus, Coreanos, The Waffle Bus, Happy Endings hot dogs and Chi’lantro BBQ. Adults will be provided with free beverages courtesy of St. Arnold’s Brewery.
The annual Houston Chronicle Concert will bring the evening to a close with performances by the Houston Orchestra and winner of the Ima Hogg Young Artist Competition, clarinetist Moran Katz.
