Last week, Irv Gotti stirred up talks of his infamous fallout with his famous, former protégé Ashanti, claiming that she distanced herself from him when things went south for Murder Inc. Now, Gotti has opened up again about his relationship with Ashanti and this time he is dispelling old rumors that he and Ashanti were more than just friends.
During a recent interview with Power 105’s “The Breakfast Club,” Irv explained the rumors that he and Ashanti slept together were false and that there was no “romantic relationship” between them.
“Here’s the real … Ashanti and I have a unique and special bond. Okay? We made great music together … No,” said Irv. “Let me tell you about our relationship! Listen, we at Murder Inc. are like a family. What happened when I fell upon hard times, certain people bailed; she bailed. She didn’t wanna be a part of Murder Inc. no more. She’s this princess that I created and the ‘Murder’ wasn’t good for the image anymore.”
Irv, who was married during the time of Murder Inc’s reign, explained that, although he didn’t sleep with Ashanti, there were many other women with whom he did. Although he and his wife are now divorced, he claims she is better off without him.
“She has a great life,” he said about his ex-wife Deb. “When we talk about these relationships…a lot of people don’t work out. When you look at the end of it, she is in a better place. She has a great life.”
Well, Irv and Ashanti may not have slept together, but there certainly were other maestros who slept with their protégés. Check out some other business relationships that turned romantic below.
