J. Cole honored Michael Brown and other black men who faced police brutality during his Made In America Festival in Philadelphia.

Before J. Cole hit the stage, his dedication to Brown, “Be Free,” played as a video montage was shown on dual video screens that hung on each side of the stage.

The video featured images of Civil Rights leaders marching and being attacked during the ’60s; protests and unrest in Ferguson, Missouri; and the police killing of Eric Garner in New York.

J. Cole was one of several prominent rappers to visit Ferguson after the death of Michael Brown.
