At one point, Ja Rule and DMX were two of the biggest names in hip-hop. Today, Ja is in the midst of staging a career comeback after spending two years in prison; while DMX has become a cautionary tale. X’s career was derailed by drug abuse, frequent arrests and erratic behavior. In a recent interview, Ja was asked to give his take on how far the man has fallen.
Instead of throwing dirt on DMX’s career, Ja Rule shared his belief that the troubled star can still salvage his name and reputation.
“This is America,” Ja told TheGrio. “We love to see people bounce back. We love that comeback story.
“I don’t think it’s far off for X to come back and do something significant, and people to love him again,” Ja explained. “I think he just needs to maybe seek God. It has to be something drastic that changes the way he lives and the way he goes about his everyday lifestyle. Hopefully he’ll realize that what he’s doing is destructive.”
As for Ja himself, the former chart-topper is currently promoting his film project, the gospel-themed I’m In Love With A Church Girl which also stars Adrienne Bailon and Stephen Baldwin.
