Lil Wayne took his beef with Pusha T one step further with the release of the diss track “Goulish.” The song, which is less than two minutes, is a rather underwhelming response to Pusha T’s “Exodus 23:1.” Many believed that there were lyrics in “Exodus 23: 1” that were aimed at Lil Wayne’s label-mate Drake.
While performing at the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C. on May 25, Drake responded to Pusha T by saying, “If you was doin’ 16s when I was 16 and your sh– still flopped and you switched teams don’t talk to me my n—.”
Fans of both artists took to Facebook and Twitter to share their opinions on what could be the prelude to a full-fledge rap battle.
While Pusha T is respected in the hip-hop community as a top-notch lyricist, he hasn’t sold many albums as a member of the Clipse and during his recent stint as a solo artist.
However, Pusha T’s battle with Lil Wayne could revive his career. Lil Wayne has introduced Pusha T to an entirely new audience by merely mentioning him in a diss record. It also proves that Lil Wayne (an artist who has sold millions of records) has enough respect for Pusha T to attack him lyrically.
Now that occasional rap fans are wondering about Lil Wayne’s newest foe, it’ll be up to Pusha T to capitalize off of the opportunity by releasing music that will increase his exposure. There are reports that Pusha T will release a new song aimed at Lil Wayne and Drake this weekend.
