In the world of hip-hop, rappers hurling disses at one another, whether outright or subliminal, is commonplace and easy fodder for hungry fans and tabloids waiting for the next great beef to occur. Most recently, tabloids have been clamoring over alleged disses from Young Money star Drake to hip-hop mogul Jay-Z. But the young emcee is dispelling the rumors, claiming that he would never diss the hip-hop icon.
“Hov diss? Hov of all people has not lost it…that’s god body flow,” tweeted Drake on May 20.
The rumors concerning the possible diss began after Drake dropped two suspicious lines on the new releases “Dreams Money Can Buy” and the DJ Khaled track “I’m The One” featuring Young Money CEO Lil Wayne and Rick Ross.
On the latter, Drake raps, “Hate the rumors, hate the bulls–t, hate these f—-n’ allegations/I’m just feelin’ like the throne is for the takin’; watch me take it.”
On “Dreams Money Can Buy,” which is expected to appear on Drake’s sophomore album Take Care, the Toronto spitter raps, “And I feel like lately I went from top five to remaining five/My favorite rappers either lost it or they ain’t alive.”
Since the disses aren’t about Jay-Z, we wonder just who Drake is referring to? And we also can’t help but wonder, who would win in a battle between Drake and Jay-Z? What do you think? –nicholas robinson
