According to MTV News, Gaga confirmed the split on Monday, Nov. 14. Since Gaga hit pop’s mainstage back in 2008, Gibson had been with her choreographing numbers for the singer’s early videos, including “Beautiful, Dirty, Rich,” “Poker Face” and “Love Game,” to Gaga’s landmark videos like “Paparazzi” and “Bad Romance.”
Gibson even provided artistic input during the creation of Gaga’s “Telephone,” “Alejandro” and “Born This Way” videos before eventually co-directing credits on the videos “Judas” and “You and I.”
However, it was during the creation of the “Judas” video that cracks in Gaga and Gibson’s relationship between to show. While on the set of the video, the two women clashed over the overtly religious imagery in the clip and Gibson later spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about the onset tension, saying, “At one point, there was two completely different views and after the third glass of wine, I was like, ‘Listen, I don’t want lightning to strike me. I believe in the Gospel and I’m not going there.’ ” Gibson later claimed that she was fine with the final “Judas” video but maintained that she and Gaga had different interpretations of the clip.
However, the two seemed to butt creative heads again on the crafting out a concept for Gaga’s “Edge of Glory” video with director Joseph Khan, who was later pulled from the video. According to The Hollywood Reporter, things continued to go down hill as Gaga and Gibson were once again at odds over the concept of the “You and I” video this past summer.
Aside from creative differences, Gibson had also begun to strike out on her own the reality TV realm. After first appearing on Diddy’s “Making The Band” Franchise (during which time, Diddy fired Gibson over ego clashes and creative differences), Gibson snagged her own TV shows this past year, including BET’s dance competition “Born to Dance” and an E! reality show entitled “The Dance Scene.”
On Nov. 6, Gaga quietly tweeted that Gibson’s former No. 2, Richard Jackson, is now choreographing her material.
“Warming up with my choreographer Richard Jackson, singing + pinning garments till the last moment. So excited for The Night, gonna Marry It,” tweeted Gaga.
