Nicki Minaj turned heads at the MTV VMAs this year for more than one reason. Minaj walked the black carpet wearing a dress made of an assortment of toys, reflectors and dolls.
Minaj also showed up with Safaree Samuels. Samuels served as Minaj’s hype man and the two also dated. However, it was reported that the two split after being involved in a domestic violence situation that they both attempted to cover up.
But in the beginning of August, a 911 recording was released and Minaj was heard saying, “Look what he did to my face.” Apparently, Samuels hit Minaj and she ordered that he be removed from the hotel where the incident occurred. She eventually fired him.
Along with being a violent boyfriend, Samuels is also an awful rapper who is searching for a record deal. In his latest song “My Watch” he raps, “All the h–s love me, they want my semen, my watch is mad at me, my diamonds always screaming.”
Should Minaj be criticized for remaining in an abusive relationship, or should she be allowed to keep her personal life private? –a.r.
