Rihanna’s reign on the music industry continues as the Barbadian born singer will be the very first recipient of the American Music Award’s Icon award.

The award, voted strictly by fans was made to honor artists who influence pop music across the globe.

With multi-platinum albums in dozens of countries, Rihanna certainly fits that bill as a global influencer of music. The “Diamonds” singer has collected 12 number-one singles, 6 Grammys and sold over 50 million albums worldwide in the 7 years since her debut album was released.

“Rihanna’s iconic and innovative sound has enabled her to become one of the most influential and best-selling artists of all time,” producer Larry Klein said.

In addition to receiving the Icon award, Rihanna will also perform during the show. Other performers for the night will include Lady Gaga, Ke$ha, Imagine Dragons, Kendrick Lamar, Jennifer Lopez, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Luke Bryan, Miley Cyrus, Florida Georgia Line, One Direction, Katy Perry, Justin Timberlake and TLC. Pitbull is set to be the host for the night.

The award show will be broadcasted on ABC, Nov. 24, 8 p.m. ET/tape delay PT.
