Based upon the gang of social media respondents, very few people on either side of the political isle are buying Gov. Chris Christie’s (R-N.J.) statement that he knew nothing about the planned shutdown of the nation’s busiest bridge two months ago.
The famously rotund Christie was, of course, subjected to a plethora of obesity jokes as related to the ordered shutdown of the George Washington Bridge — which connects New York and New Jersey — at the behest of two of Christie’s highest-ranking appointees and advisers as revenge against Fort Hood’s Democratic mayor’s refusal to support Christie’s reelection bid (Christie won in a landslide and didn’t need the mayor’s support, which smacks of pettiness and bullying).
Even as Christie, universally considered as the front-runner to the Republican presidential nomination in 2016, hijacked a bus and threw his chief of staff underneath it (Bridget Anne Kelly), many political pundits and media members believe there is much more to this story than the governor has divulged at his exhausting 90-minute press conference.
Take a look at some of the most hilarious memes and Twitter reactions from a very skeptical public.
