Chicago welcomed 2010 Super Bowl Champ Chris “Big Baby” Campbell home after his first win at an intimate meet-and-greet held recently at Tantrum.
Green Bay Packer Chris Campbell played on the offensive and defensive lines as a four-year letterman at Marshall High School in Chicago.
Campbell attended Eastern Illinois as a walk-on and finished his career as the starting left tackle.
As a senior, Campbell earned second-team All-Ohio Valley Conference honors and was a part of the Panthers team that won the conference with a 6-2 record and advanced to the Football Championship Subdivision playoffs.
Campbell was signed by Green Bay as a non-drafted free agent on April 30, 2010.
As Lady Luck smiled upon him, Chris Campbell sat next to rolling out publisher Munson Steed on a flight last year. Steed and Campbell struck up a conversation, and the publisher was so impressed by the young man that he invested in his professional image and hired a trusted publicist for him.
In a whirlwind of a year, Campbell returned the favor by inviting Steed to the Super Bowl, where his team, the Green Bay Packers, won the game.
Don’t get it twisted. Chicago is pure Bears country, but there’s always love for a young black man who’s making all the right moves.
