Drake, Jennifer Lopez, Wanda Sykes Join ‘Ice Age’ Cast

After three previous films starring the likes of superstars Queen Latifah and John Leguizamo, the Fox Entertainment Ice Age franchise is adding even more diversity to the star-studded cast of the fourth film, Ice Age: Continental Drift, with the latest additions of Drake, Jennifer Lopez, Wanda Sykes and KeKe Palmer to the cast.

According to deadline.com, the cast additions were revealed Tuesday, April 26, during a meeting on the Fox lot between Fox Entertainment co-chair Tom Rothman and Fox Animation Studios president Vanessa Morrison and potential licensees and promotional partners.

In Continental Drift, Latifah and Leguizamo will reprise their roles as Ellie the mammoth and Sid the squirrel, respectively. Lopez will play Shira, a snow leopard who thaws the icy heart of saber-toothed tiger Diego (Dennis Leary). And although details about their roles are still unknown, Drake will play Ethan, Sykes will play Granny and Palmer will play Peaches.

So far, the Ice Age franchise has grossed nearly $2 billion at the box office with its first three films. Contintental Drift will also release a Christmas TV special titled, “Ice Age: A Mammoth Christmas” this November as well as a multiplayer game online, a mobile game, and a possible Ice Age on Ice touring show.

Ice Age: Continental Drift will hit theaters on July 13, 2012.
