The Dance Theatre of Harlem presents its annual Summer Street Festival this weekend. On Saturday, August 9th, from noon to 7 p.m. professional dancers and students will be showcased as vendors offer food, books, jewelry and clothes to all in attendance; with everything taking place on West 152nd Street between Amsterdam and St. Nicholas Avenues.

Swizz Beatz dedicates his original artwork to NY hospital

Hip-hop superproducer Swizz Beatz has been Global Ambassador for New York City Health and Hospital Corporation (HHC) since 2012, and the star/philanthropist was in East Harlem this week to dedicate an original piece of artwork to the Henry J. Carter Specialty Hospital and Nursing Facility. Entitled “Victory,” Swizz said that he wanted to inspire the staff and patients at the facility, who in turn, should serve as inspiration for everyone.

Aaron and Brenda Beener bring Seasoned Vegan to Harlem, N.Y.

Seasoned Vegan is Harlem’s newest dining experience. Nestled on the corner of St. Nicholas and 113th St, the full service vegan restaurant was founded by mother and son Brenda and Aaron Beener, who serve as executive chef and general manager, respectively. The Beeners have been vegan for years (Brenda officially for five years, Aaron officially for about three) and Brenda was inspired by the encouragement of friends and family to start her own business after they raved about her dishes at home.
