Is “Scandal” alum Columbus Short heading to Empire?
It was just about a year ago, that the 32-year-old actor had a run-in with the law, after getting into a bar brawl followed by a nasty split from his wife. The Stomp The Yard actor later told Access Hollywood Live that his troubles were due to a substance abuse including cocaine and alcohol. But all that was soon behind him, when he packed his bags and moved to Atlanta, to work on his music. “I’m not only back but it’s about to be a problem for Hollywood because we’re going to go big,” he said. “I’m excited, but I’m also humbled and grateful.”
Now, Short who played Harrison Wright on the ABC drama (until being killed off during last season’s finale) is plotting his return to Hollywood, hinting that an appearance on the Fox musical drama might be next.
“Big things are happening,” Short told E! News when asked about the casting rumors. “I’m going to be bridging my music career with my acting career. I’m just saying it wouldn’t be a shock.”
In the meantime, Short will focus on promoting The Girl Is in Trouble; where he takes on the role of August, an aspiring deejay who finds himself thrown into the middle of a murder investigation involving his friend who is also a drug dealer. Short admits to E! News, that he identified with August’s aspirations to make it big.
“He was willing to struggle for his dream and I think a lot of artists will identify with that,” he said.
