Fate of ABC’s new shows, ‘How to Get Away with Murder’ and ‘Black-ish’

ABC is the first out of the starting blocks with full season orders, picking up Shonda Rhimes‘ latest crime drama, “How to Get Away with Murder” and Kenya Barris’ “Black-ish,” starring Tracee Ellis Ross and Anthony Anderson.

How To Get Away With Murder,” starring Tony Award winner Viola Davis follows an ethically dubious criminal law professor, who compiles an eccentric team of students to join her, as she picks up a murder case involving a star athlete, an outsider and a pretty blonde. Davis is soon plagued by the idea that her husband may have had something to do with the murder of the young female student. During its debut, the series delivered a whopping 14 million viewers and a 3.8 rating among adults 18-49. Rhimes’ latest hit has been picked up for 15 total episodes.


Meanwhile “Black-ish,” debuted strong with 10.8 million viewers and a 3.3 rating. The comedy series has been picked up for 22 episodes.
