Culture Creators has become a prominent platform that brings together millennials and generation X leaders across various industries that shape Black culture. Started in 2015, Culture Creators was produced with the next generation in mind, as it balances the right mix of philanthropy, mentoring and fun. Culture Creators was designed to highlight the contributions of those individuals who shape the world’s view of Black culture through entertainment by honoring and recognizing extraordinary influencers.

Over Howard University’s (HU) Homecoming weekend 2016, Culture Creators hosted the Bison Edition of their high profile and sophisticated event. The Bison Edition celebrated the contributions of notable HU alumni in the entertainment industry. These influencers included actors Anthony Anderson, Laz Alonso, Lance Gross, and Gabrielle Dennis, NBC Anchorwoman Lesli Foster, Extra TV correspondent AJ Calloway, R&B group SHAI and others.

Powered by African Pride, Culture Creators hosted two events during HU’s Homecoming weekend. On Friday, October 21 there was an intimate dinner that served as the formal honoring of the selected alumni. The guest list consisted of the honorees, the host committee, and other influencers as well as special invited guests from Howard’s senior leadership team. On Saturday, October 22, a fundraising ‘fete’ was held to raise scholarship dollars for the Culture Creators Scholarship that will be started to support underprivileged students who aspire to pursue degrees in the arts and entertainment field. Net proceeds from the fundraising event will be donated directly to HU for the Culture Creators Scholarship fund.
