Trey Songz has been all over the news for the past few weeks over everything from a fallout with Keke Palmer to an alleged sex tape leak. But what also has Songz in the news are reports about his less-talked-about assault case, which has been brewing for months. And according to the latest reports, Songz recently declined to take a plea deal in the case.

According to reports, the drama began back in December when Songz was performing at the Joe Louis Arena in Detroit. Sources say that Songz was informed that his set was going past the time limit but instead of stopping the show he dared the vendor officials to cut his mic, warning that he’d retaliate.

Well, once they cut his mic, Songz allegedly did retaliate and he was accused of hurling objects in the air and destroying everything in sight. Reports also claim that a police officer was hurt in the melee after being hit by debris. Not surprisingly, Songz was arrested for aggravated assault and assaulting a police officer.

According to the latest reports, Songz was arraigned yesterday in Wayne County Circuit Court in Los Angeles and the singer was offered a plea deal that would have reduced the charges from felony assault to a misdemeanor. However, Songz declined the deal, which would require him to serve two years probation.

Reports say the plea is still open for Songz to take but as of now the case is set to go to trial for the assault charges. We’re not sure how things will pan out for Songz, but all of this negative press seems to be outshining his music more than keeping his name respected in the public eye.
