When Make it Happen Management and We Got 2 Many Hits Publishing and Production company CEO Davon “BiggVon” Andrews, discusses his start in the music industry, he does it with fondness and a dash of humility in his voice. Known as “BiggVon,” for obvious reasons, (he’s 6 ft. 5) the producer/songwriter explains when he and partner Tim Burke, began their venture, they were young, hungry and eager to know all that there was to know about music and entertainment. Now that the duo are seasoned veterans of the industry with a roster of A-list clients and top-tier projects to their credit, Andrews declares they are “still hungry and eager and even more passionate than ever — the young part is relative.”
Having worked with a virtual “Who’s Who” of contemporary artists including Ice Cube, Eminem, Young Jeezy, Lil Wayne, Birdman, Rick Ross, Bone Crusher and B.o.B., Andrews sat with rolling out on the shores of Lake St. Clair recently to talk about his grammy-winning production company, and his slogan “It takes teamwork to make the dream work.” -roz edward and jennifer sheffield
How does Make It Happen assist artists?
The company provides music production and songwriting services to clients. Along with We Got Hits Publishing, we have eight producers and four songwriters who are steadily churning out beats and lyrics. We also provide consulting and management services as well as beat placements. We have to work in multiple arenas to stay relative and competitive.
What makes Make it Happen and We Got 2 Many Hits successful?
In the beginning we spent a lot of time connecting at listening events and going to radio stations. We are attuned to our audience, and we cultivated our network relationships. We’ve worked with numerous multi-platinum selling artists like Jay-Z, 50Cent, Gucci Mane, Acehood and Fabo. And we built working relationships with major labels such as Arista, Universal, Interscope and Sony BMG. But we also tempered our enthusiasm with integrity and a consistent work ethic.
What are some of the projects you’ve worked on?
We worked on the production of Lil Wayne and Bird Man’s track “Fire Flame Spitta,” which received heavy rotation and airplay on urban radio. Movies we’ve been involved with include: Daddy’s Little Girls, Forbidden Fruit, Dirty Laundy, Envy and Case 39. Currently, we’re working on more TV and film projects and music licensing. We’ve already done work for MTV, Vh1, HBO and Rockstar Games. We have solidly established our publishing arm of the company and we are steadily moving toward even more expansion.
