In a recent interview, Nicki Minaj was asked about her relationship with her labelmate Drake, and she indicated that the two are still close. She even gets matrimonial regarding their bond.
“One day I will run away with Drake and get married, but right now it’s just a fantasy,” Minaj reportedly said in an interview with i-D.
Nicki and Drake have had a long, sometimes-strange and sometimes-estranged relationship. The labelmates have both acknowledged that they are close, and even pretended to get married in 2010 on Twitter. But the two seemed to grow apart in recent years, with Drake rapping about he and Nicki’s strained friendship on his track “Tuscan Leather.”
“Not even talkin’ to Nicki / Communication is breakin’ / I dropped the ball on some personal s—, I need to embrace it,” Drake raps. “I’m honest. I make mistakes. I’d be the second to admit it / Think that’s why I need her in my life, to check me when I’m trippin.'”
Neither has ever gone into specifics regarding their supposed estrangement, but judging from Nicki’s comments, it could all be water under the proverbial bridge at this point. During the same interview with i-D, Minaj was also asked about her woman of choice, and she wasted no time sharing her adoration for a certain sexy pop starlet.
“Rihanna,” Minaj says of her longtime gal pal. “She fondled me at the MTV Awards and the American Music Awards. I love her. She’s the best fondler ever.”
