Both surviving members of TLC, Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins and Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas shared their disapproval of pop superstar Rihanna (and others) penchant for nudity. The comments came days after RiRi turned heads with a see-through outfit at the awards last week.
“Every time I see you, you don’t have to be naked,” T-Boz said about Rihanna during an interview with Channel 7’s Sunrise. “It’s easy to sell sex,” T-Boz said. “It’s hard for us to say anything because any time we do, they say, ‘Oh TLC must be jealous,’ but I call a spade a spade.”
“We became the biggest girl selling group of all time with our clothes on and that says a lot,” Chilli added. “We could go around too with booby cakes [breasts] out all day long.”
The comments clearly annoyed and angered Rihanna, who posted a photo from a 1995 TLC photo shoot from VIBE where all three members, (Watkins, Thomas and the late Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes) are smiling and topless.
T-Boz took a very different stance back in February when she addressed another popular-yet-controversial starlet. “I think people should lay off Miley a little,” tweeted T-Boz at the time. “Yes she goes hard but what top female artist out now popular do u know with their clothes on?”
For her part, Rihanna continued to fire shots at the 90s superstars via a series of dismissive tweets.
“When there’s no changing the fact that I’m me, and they’re well … they’re them,” she tweeted, along with a photo of her sticking out her tongue.
She also posted a photo of Kanye West nonchalantly eating an ice cream with the caption: “P— what an old thot got to say.”
