Chicago House music legend Frankie Knuckles has reportedly passed away at the age of 59.
The news was reported a short time ago by 5magazine: “We received word this evening from people close to him that Frankie Knuckles, universally regarded as the “Godfather of House Music,” has died in Chicago.”
Knuckles was born in New York and later moved to Chicago where he was widely known as one of several house music pioneers. His bodies of work include classic songs such as “The Whistle Song,” “Your Love/Baby Wants to Ride,” “Rain Falls,” “Keep On Movin'” and “A New Reality.” In 2005, Knuckles was bestowed the prestigious honor of being entered into the Dance Hall of Fame for his career achievements.
The cause of death has not been reported. Stay tuned as additional details are released.
