Author, Lord, Why Did You Choose Me?

It’s often said that without a test, there’s no testimony. Through all
of life’s curve balls, Tasheika Bowen’s unwavering inner strength and
faith in God helped her remain strong. As she tackled emotional
experiences, she began to express her feelings on paper. After losing
her grandparents, she realized that she should share her story and
compiled her work into a book of poetry entitled, Lord, Why Did You Choose Me?

“My book touches on my struggles with self-esteem, insecurity, how I
grew up without a father, and me almost losing my husband a few years
ago,” she explains. “After I went through that, I wanted to motivate
people and help them figure out their purpose and help them hurry up
and get busy.”

As Bowen sorted through her troubled past, this fourth grade teacher
and mother of twins explained that she further understood that God’s
purpose was being delivered through her writing.

“I have been saved since I was 13, but I never brought anyone to the
Lord,” she says. “I realized that life is about helping other people,
and it’s not always about what we want, but it’s about Him and what He
wants us to do.” –jamana jamison
